Flow metering on the main, leak sensors in the risk spots, and device-level automated shutoff that can close the main the moment a leak is sensed.
Temperature & freeze watch
Continuous temperature monitoring so a failed furnace in January gets caught while it's a furnace problem, not a pipe problem.

We watch the watchers. A sensor going silent is treated as a signal, not ignored as a gap.
