Terms of Service
DRAFT — plain-language summary, pending legal review. The full Terms of Service (v1.1) govern; clients receive the complete document at signup.
What the service is
HavenIQ provides remote property monitoring, notification, and coordination services: we collect telemetry from authorized devices, evaluate it with deterministic policy logic and human review, notify you of detected anomalies, and coordinate contractor dispatch within the limits you authorize.
What the service is not
The service does not provide life-safety monitoring, emergency response, security services, insurance, professional inspection, construction management, or autonomous dispatch. Do not rely on HavenIQ for any life-safety purpose. Where a device supports automated functions — such as water valve shutoff — those functions operate at the device level per the manufacturer's configuration; device automation is separate from HavenIQ's monitoring and notification role.
Contractors are independent
Contractors are independent third parties. Your service agreement for any repair is between you and the contractor; HavenIQ does not employ, supervise, or warrant contractors. We may review their insurance and licensing documentation administratively, but that review is not certification or endorsement.
Fees
Subscription fees are as published or agreed in your service order. When HavenIQ processes payment for contractor work, our coordination fee — ten percent of the contractor service amount — appears as a separate line item. Pre-authorized dispatch limits authorize contractor spending only; you can change or revoke them at any time in writing.
Liability
HavenIQ's total aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for failures caused by third parties (device makers, internet providers, cloud infrastructure, payment processors, contractors). Remote monitoring has inherent limits: anomalies may go undetected and notifications may be delayed, and you accept that risk as set out in the full Terms.
Term and termination
Either party may terminate with thirty days' written notice. HavenIQ may suspend or terminate immediately for material breach or non-payment. Ontario law governs; disputes go to binding arbitration in Waterloo Region unless we agree otherwise.
