Our system checks both layers: that signals are arriving fresh from every device, and that our own evaluation heartbeat is alive. Either going quiet gets a human's attention.

In an occupied home, you'd eventually notice the internet is down. In a vacant one, a tripped breaker can take your entire safety net offline for weeks — precisely the weeks nobody is there.
